Solvej Helweg Ovesen (DK) is a curator and cultural studies theoretician with a Masters in Communication and Cultural Studies from Roskilde University, Copenhagen University and Humboldt University, Berlin. She also completed the De Appel Curatorial Training Program in Amsterdam, 2003. 

Solvej is currently the Artistic Director of Galerie Wedding together with Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, where the two year long exhibition program, Post-Otherness Wedding (2015-16) concluded. The current  program at Galerie Wedding continues with an exhibition, performance and theory program titled Unsustainable Privileges (2017- 18) directed by Solvej and Bonaventure. In 2017, Solvej was a member of the curatorial Consortium behind the Danish Pavilion representing Kirstine Roepstor at La Biennale di Venezia - 57th International Art Exhibition, 2017.

She is also the founder and Artistic Director of GROSSES TREFFEN at the Nordic Embassies, a yearly artist and curatorial speed-dating event as well as a database of Nordic artists. Solvej is currently the Associate Curator for the first edition of the Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Latvia.
