As a native Berliner the city forms a crucial background for the staging of Kerstin Honeit’s practice which negotiates personal stories, gender construction and the disembodied voice in film-dubbing and lip-syncing. Her work includes video, installation and performance. In 2010 she finished her studies in Fine Arts and Theater Design at Kunsthochschule Weißensee, Berlin. A year later she was the 2011 scholarship holder of the Berlin artist postgrad program Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprogramm. Alongside her own practice Honeit has also been teaching at the Kunsthochschule Kassel (kunstlerische Mitarbeiterin, class of Bjørn Melhus) since 2014.
Her recent work has been shown at Gallery 400 in Chicago, CCNY in New York, at Site Gallery, Sheffield, at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein and at Videonale.15, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany. This year Honeit's latest piece 'Talking Business' was selected for 'Projections', part of the video art section of the Art Rotterdam, Netherlands.
