Jan Zappner is a freelance photographer based in Berlin working for maga- zines and newspapers. After finishing his law studies he decided to become
a photographer and started taking pictures throughout Eastern Europe from Serbia to Belarus exploring his own slavic mentality from Czech Republic. He
is fascinated by countries on the brink of the European Union and although
so close still remaining in oblivion.
His work has appeared in many publications like Le Monde, Madame Figaro, Elle, Financial Times, The Times, Der Spiegel, Focus, Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung, Süddeutschen Zeitung, Tagesspiegel, Journalist, Capital, Boersenblatt, PR Magazin, Spiegel Online, Insight, Jüdische Allgemeine Zeitung, Berliner Zeitung, Das Magazin, Wprost, and Respekt. In 2011 he founded Raum11, an agency specialized in corporate and event photography. He won a few prizes and grants throughout the last years and he is also exhibiting his work.
