Renee Springer is an interdisciplinary artist who, despite her best attempts, fits the bill of an American ‘millennial.’ After cringing over the label for awhile, she finally chose to use it as inspiration. Her work investigates the parallels and relationships between pop culture technology (via the screen), the Internet, and contemporary painting.
She grew up in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, and currently maintains a studio practice in Kansas City, Missouri. Renee recently received her MFA in Painting from the University of Kansas where she was awarded the merit- based Daniel MacMorris Scholarship, as well as a Professional Development Grant from the University’s School of the Arts. She has exhibited her work regionally within the US; in Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
