Catherine Evans is a contemporary visual artist who works with photography and sculpture. Continuing her research into the postcolonial collection, her most recent work mines the base materials of photography, using unfixed photographic paper to create temporary images in ambient light. Catherine has exhibited extensively; solo exhibitions include Standing Stone (2014), Batholith (2013) and Bedrock (2012). Catherine is a recipient of the inaugural VCA Graduate Mentorship and received an Australia Council ArtStart grant (2012) and a National Gallery of Victoria Trustee Award (2010). Catherine holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne (2011).
Catherine Evans’ participation in PICTURE BERLIN was supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria and The University of Melbourne through the Victorian College of the Arts Graduate Mentorship program.
Catherine has since moved to Berlin where she currently works.
