Moving is a part of Katarina Murto's DNA and photography her means of focusing on points of connection. From the age of eight, Katarina has sought continuity through her lens. Furthermore, moving between cultures and working in the field of media for over a decade made Katarina particularly conscious of the pervasive presence of story. She focuses on "natural things" that puncture the layered fabric of contending narratives to gain an entry point into a less human-narrated reality. Shadow and water have come to represent mediums through which the unseen are made visible and in recent years Katarina has been exploring these also through short videos. These meditative interludes can help redefine our nervous lives.
