Alisa Margolis (UA/US)

Alisa Margolis studied at Columbia University from 1993 to 1997, in New York, NY.
From 2001 to 2003 she was a postgraduate fellow at de Ateliers artists’ institute in Amsterdam/Netherlands.
Alisa regularly shows her work in solo and group exhibitions in Europe and the USA. In 2009, her exhibition »New Paintings« is on view at Galerie Wilma Tolksdorf in Frankfurt/Germany; at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau in Amsterdam she takes part in the group exhibition »Walker Evans and the Barn« (working title) also in 2009.

Alisa Margolis has been given numerous grants, among others the Delfina Studio Trust Artist Residency in 2005/2006, from 2001 to 2003 she received the de Ateliers fellowship in Amsterdam, in 1997 the Red Grooms Award des National Arts Club, as well as from 1993 to 1997 the Howard I. Jacoby Presidential Scholarship of the Columbia University.
Alisa Margolis is currently a Professor of Painting at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste Stuttgart, Germany.
