Sara Barnes is a researcher, writer and curator working mainly at the inter-sections between art and science. Projects include the major exhibition of medical collections in Scotland with new art commissions Anatomy Acts: How We Come to Know OurselvesSpecies of Origin, an interdisciplinary research project between Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow University and the Natural History Museum London (2007-8); Alec Finlay‘s permanent installation Mesostic Interleaved (2009) for the redevelopment of Edinburgh University Library (2009); Ilana Halperin. Steine at the Berlin Medical History Museum and Hand Held Lava at Schering Stiftung Project Space (both 2012); Accidental Host at the Ecuadorian Embassy in Berlin (2014), and ON THE EDGE, at the Humboldt University's Tieranatomisches Theater (2015). Publications include New Landmass/Neue Landmasse (2012);Surgeons’ Hall. A Museum Anthology (2009), and essays in The Art of Evolution: Darwin and Visual Cultures(2009) and Anatomy Acts (winner of the Medical Book of the Year, Society of Authors and Roya
l Society of Medicine Book Awards 2007). She is co-founder of Satellite Salon and lives in Berlin.
