Marcus Brownlow (b. 1965) not only works with the photographic medium, he also writes extensively. His work explores aspects of the urban environment, particularly built forms that emit a strange beauty despite their utilitarian purpose. He is interested in how people use space as evidenced by what they leave behind. While his images are often devoid of people, their presence is alluded to by the marks they have left on the landscape. Working increasingly with black and white photography, he aims for a simple and minimalist aesthetic in both art and life. He holds a PhD from The University of Adelaide and a Diploma of Photoimaging from The Centre for Creative Photography.
Marcus currently lives in Sheffield, England.http://www.marcusbrownlow.com
