Marta Barensfeld (b. 1986) extensively works with rural and urban landscapes of the United States and Europe. Born in Manhattan, she grew up with a big yard in a small town in upstate New York. Equipped with a background in painting and sculpture, she studied Fine Art Photography and Art History and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at SUNY Purchase, New York (2008). Her work ranges from landscape and portraiture and focuses on the transportive, impermanent, and often eery aspects of the natural landscape. Marta has been exhibited in the U.S. and Internationally and has also curated several group exhibitions. Marta's professional career includes the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NYC, and Magnum Photos, NYC as well as working at commercial and fine art photography studios. Marta lives and works in New York City.
