Marcus Brownlow is an Australian artist and data scientist working mainly with photographic images. Photographs are usually the end point of a long creative process, but he now uses them as the starting point for the creation of new and abstract works that rely on the application of rules and computation at the intersection of art and science. His works investigate the relationship between colour and place, and reject realism in favour of a more visceral imagining of landscape. He holds a PhD from The University of Adelaide and a Diploma of Photoimaging from The Centre for Creative Photography. Marcus currently lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
